Hephzibah

Again, one of my own characters.  She's a witch who lives in a Puritan-esque community, often finding herself in a position where it isn't safe to go back to the village.  She was befriended by a flesh-eating fairy called Gorse, which made everything a lot worse.

If you're interested, her name is Hebrew and means 'my delight is in her', it's found in the Old Testament.

Coda

This is the girl that appears in the Butterflies animation.  She's a princess called Coda, about 11 years old, who suffers from an arranged marriage and a sort of uncontrollable clairvoyance, which causes her a lot of distress.

hands

While I'm uploading observational drawing, here are some hands.  The one in the middle with the book is Richard Powell's (he was sketching someone else), the other three are all another boy in my class.

More Observation

Here are the rest of the pictures I drew at the O2.  Yes, they are almost entirely of Damon Albarn, this is because I think he is a lovely man and in my heart I am a crazy fangirl.  It turns out Paul Simonon is too cool for paper though, I only got two successful pictures of him.

Incidentally, if you're a person with any kind of disposable income and you download music illegally instead of buying it like a law-abiding citizen, I hold you responsible for the cancellation of the 'Rhinestone Eyes' music video.  Personally responsible.

Observation at the O2

Sammy and I went to see Gorillaz at the O2 last Sunday, it was epic.  I did some observational drawing on a whim because I saw Sammy doing some, and I was pleased with how it came out.  I didn't know I could draw in the dark.

Little Dragon and De La Soul did sets before the main show, here are the pictures from those:

I'll upload the rest in a bit.

These are a few pictures I doodled up at BICS, two of me and one of my friend Sammy Borras.  The top one doesn't look a whole heap like me because I forgot I don't have eyebrows.

animation

I thought you might like to see an animation I did in first year, I called it Butterflies, for reasons that should be obvious once you watch it.  The girl is another of my own characters, a Princess called Coda.

The hand at the beginning is rotoscoped from my own hand, everything else was done frame-by-frame, freehand in Flash.  I'm very proud of it, considering I hadn't done any serious animation before.  I hope you all like it too.

Disposable People

This year I joined my friend Sammy Borras' comic collective, Inspired Comics, and did a 7-page sci-fi comic for the new anthology.  I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, so here's the cover and one page.

We took these (and numerous others made before I joined) to BICS this year, where they sold quite well.  We'll be selling them at other events next year too, so keep your eyes peeled.

(Yuck, where does that expression come from?   Makes me imagine peeling an eyeball like a grape or something.)

Jemima

This is another of my own characters, she has no special abilities other than wearing bizarre clothes without a hint of embarrassment.  These are all from 2009, when my scanner was playing up, so the quality isn't fantastic.

Spider

This is a character of mine called Spider (a nickname) who has various psychic abilities.  He speaks with  a moderate Liverpool accent.

Both pictures are from June 2010.

Snow White

These are from a project last year, illustrating Snow White.  They're a little gruesome, but I like them.
